Industrial Design

Whatever I think, I create.

Caribbean Clock

This was born out of a random idea, like most of my ventures. I design the clock in AutoCAD (yep, I drew every! single! line!) then sent it out to a third party to be CNC’ed. Once I had the clock base, there was a bit more labor on my end such as sealing it to protect the wood veneer, then I chose the motors and hands, and assembled the entire thing. It can take up to 3 days for me to create one clock but it is such a fun process.

Tile Coasters

Constantly thinking about creating and expressing myself, I decided to make my own coasters. I originally just wanted coasters of my Fruit Tile, which I did figure out how to make after much trial and error, but then I decided to have some fun hand painting some (pattern-making for textile design is another interest of mine). This project is one of my easier creations in that it does not take much time, but anyone who has ever dealt with resin knows you can either be really lucky or unlucky depending on the day.

The clean up process after the resin is cured.

C is for Shelf

I just wanted to build a shelf in the shape of the letter C to personalize my room. That’s all!

Finishing the shelf and adding the mounts.

Light Fixtures

I absolutely love lighting. A nicely designed light fixture makes me so happy, I wanted to try to create that happiness myself. Out of this exploration, a ton of fixture ideas were born. Since I easily have enough lighting design content to create a website, I will just show one here. When I design lighting, I draw themon large format paper or digitally, instead of using a program. With my predisposition for building things, I naturally moved from drawing to figuring out how to build what I just designed. I taught myself how to wire and built every light fixture I’ve made from scratch. I name my fixtures after the moons of different planets (an ode to my interest in astronomy); this one is named Skoll (a moon of Saturn). Skoll is made of acrylic and real copper.
